Babakul – the Los Angeles-based contemporary women’s collection whose celebrity fans include Jennifer Hudson, Jessica Alba, Kim Kardashian and Brooke Burke – are to join forces with In A Perfect World to help build an education center for under privileged children in Nicaragua.
In an effort to give back ,the ladies of Babakul – Kym Gold and Sophie Wizmann – have designed a t-shirt that simply states “Build with Babakul”. 100% of the proceeds go directly into the efforts of In A Perfect World. The t-shirt is effortlessly chic with a minimal take on a traditional tee. The shirt features the In A Perfect World logo on the back corner, all the while draping perfectly to form a tousled and sexy silhouette. From the kimono-like sleeves to the wide crew neck, you won’t just be doing your community a service; you’ll be thanking yourself later when you’re ready for the evening after you’ve paired the top with skinny jeans, a pair of wedges, and a cropped leather jacket.
To celebrate the launch of the Build with Babakul t-shirt, a cocktail /shopping soiree will be held in honor of In A Perfect World at the Fred Segal Santa Monica / Babakul boutique and will kick off the campaign to raise awareness and funds for this amazing cause. In addition to the sale of the Build with Babakul T-shirt, 15 %of all Babakul Summer 2011 styles purchased during the event will be donated to In A Perfect World as well.
In a Perfect World is a Los Angeles-based non-profit organization – founded by Manuela Testolini – whose mission it is to inspire and empower children to become compassionate, socially conscious and responsible leaders. Through the REACH Program, IAPW is dedicated to helping disadvantaged children, their families, and their communities by constructing and renovating schools in developing countries. To fulfill this vision, IAPW has partnered with buildOn to build schools in the most remote and impoverished communities around the world. In a Perfect World continues its partnership with buildOn to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations through service and education by funding two new schools in rural Nicaragua in 2011.
Over 200 guests are expected to attend the event, which takes place on Saturday, July 23, from 3-6pm. Babakul will host a 3 hour in store cocktail party during Fred Segal Santa Monica’s “Sweet Saturday Shopping Gala”, to benefit In A Perfect World’s “Reach” program. Babakul will unveil the " Build with Babakul" Summer Style Tee which 100% of the proceeds will go to the charity and aid in building education centers in Nicaraugua.
